Satisfied Wanting More

“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.”

Psalm 63:1

Reading Psalm 27 at prayer this morning the word “Craving” came to mind. Can you recall a craving you had and how you felt once it was satisfied? You know when you have a craving because it dominates your thoughts throughout the day. If you have ever had a desire, a craving then you know from the moment you wake up until the time you go to sleep at night your mind will not rest. We read in the psalms about one such craving. The psalmist declared his craving in Psalm 55:17, “Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.” This craving was for God Himself that when satisfied only intensified the craving for more. Thats how it is when we seek God. When we seek God we experience a craving that provides satisfaction that leads us to seeking Him more!

Some cravings come and some go while others just won’t go away. A few years ago, after returning home from a doctors appointment where I had to fast for 24 hours before giving blood I got this strange craving. For some reason I wanted, “Pigs In A Blanket”, you know, a hot dog wrapped in a crescent roll, Rootbeer and BBQ potato chips. I have no idea why those particular items came to mind as they are not normally something I eat but I was craving them big time. I called my wife who just happened to be by God’s divine providence (LOL) at the grocery store. I asked her if she could pick up those items to satisfy my craving and she laughed out loud responding, “So you want to celebrate your clean bill of health do you?”

Have you ever considered, loved one, that God loves when we have a craving for Him? God knows our cravings reveal what is in our heart at any given moment and there is nothing like craving the Lord and having Him satisfy our hearts desire when we seek Him. Proverbs 8:17 says, “I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.” Just know this, God satisfies like nothing in this world can! Take time today and seek Him and allow Him to satisfy the craving deep within your soul. You will be so glad you did as you too discover what the psalmist came to know when he penned the words, "taste and see that the Lord is good".

“When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”

Psalm 27:8

I LOVE YOU!
