Keep Your Eye On The Prize

“But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

1 Corinthians 2:9

Watching the animated version of the Pilgrims Progress I was so encouraged in my own spiritual journey as I like many followers of Jesus am often times distracted by the devil and the world around me. There are always paths to choose, some easily marked and others very deceptive. There are people along the way too, some encourage you while others challenge you, and still there are even those who seek to discourage you.

What’s a Christian to do in a world that seems to have gone completely off the rails? Press on is the theme of the movie. No matter what you face, don’t give up, don’t quit, continue walking and climbing and sometimes even crawling as you make your way through this life towards the celestial kingdom. The Bible teaches us that this life is like seventy or eighty years at best. Heck, even a hundred years is nothing compared to eternity. That is the key to pressing on. What’s a hundred years in compassion to eternity? It’s beyond compare and yet most of us if we are honest will admit this life has too strong of a grip on our lives. If we could just wake up each day remembering that this life isn’t our focal point, the next life is. To wake up each day thinking and living with the end in mind is what sets our course of action and provides the motivation for today.

Don’t forget, this life is a journey, it’s not the end. It’s here on earth that we are being prepared for glory. God often gives the test first, then the lesson follows. God designed it that way on purpose so we would learn to trust Him and not ourselves, as not all storms come to disrupt your life. Some come to clear a path. If you understand that then you will also know we shouldn’t try to get out of the desert. What we should try is to get the most out of the desert. Life is a learning experience! Whatever you do today, decide right now to press on! Someone summed up the movie the Pilgrims Process this way. May it encourage you like it did me.

The moral of the story of Pilgrims Progress is press on!

Press On!

The journey for Pilgrim begins.
He encounters adversaries.
He strays from the path.
God sends encouragers.
He presses on.
He becomes fearful.
He encounters scoundrels.
He takes time to rest and eat.
He makes friends.
He presses on.
He meets fools.
He is judged.
He learns.
He sees death.
He presses on.
He looks at history.
He becomes wiser.
He encounters evil.
He presses on.
He teaches others.
He challenges others.
He crosses Jordan.
He is welcomed by angels.
Weary Pilgrim, welcome Home.

The Christian is on a journey and will meet all kinds of people, and undergo much testing and trials.  Be faithful to the One who watches over your soul...and press on!

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”

Philippians 3:8

I LOVE YOU!
