How To Limit The Devil Copy
“For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’” When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were chosen for eternal life became believers. So the Lord’s message spread throughout that region.”
Acts 13:47-49
As I read the following quote it reminded me of Paul and Barnabas as they were sharing the gospel in Antioch of Pisidia and were met with opposition. The quote said, “The enemy will do anything to limit our praise and worship of God for he knows that our praise and worship limit him.” Thats such a profound truth I pray you don’t soon forget it. And just as well we must not forget that just like Jesus uses people to do His work the devil uses people too.
Read Acts 13:50, “Then the Jews stirred up the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town.” Imagine preaching a message so good that hundreds of people get saved and then you are immediately run out of town. Those opposing Paul’s message did just that right in front of Paul and Barnabas. They didn’t even wait for Paul to say “Amen” at the end of his message. That can be discouraging for sure unless of course you anticipate the attacks and understand its not personal, its spiritual. Over and over in the Bible religious people rise up against the gospel of grace. It happens in every church, even still in the one I pastor. Wherever the Lord is the devil is not far behind.
Though we can’t completely eliminate the attacks of the enemy upon our lives we can minimize them for sure. First we need to understand why the devil attacks us. He wants to keep you from worshipping Jesus. That is His ultimate desire because He knows that being in the presence of God is where we experience the fullness of joy and thats the last thing in this world the devil wants you to know is joy that flows from God’s love. Second, the devil knows that God inhabits the praises of His people. All you and I have to do to get God to show up is to worship Him. God couldn’t stay away even if He wanted it, and trust me, He doesn’t want to stay away from you. Lastly, the devil knows if we resist him he will flee. And how do we best resist the devil? We don’t waste our time talking to devil but instead set our hearts to praise and worship the Lord and trusting in the promises that fill God’s Word.
Are you feeling under attack? Has the devil come against you and you feel like he’s winning? Don’t believe his lies. The enemy has already been defeated so set your heart to worship the Lord and to praise His name today. Thank God for the victory that is in Jesus! Pull out your bible and read all the promises of God for you.. Rest in His love and trust in His plans and purposes for your life. Don't forget what the enemy means for evil God will use for good. Turn on some Christian music, some worship songs that you can sing along. Experience the presence of God today! And don’t forget the tactics of the devil, “The enemy will do anything to limit our praise and worship of God for he knows that our praise and worship limit him.” Let's limit the devil today, let's use our breath to praise the Lord!
“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you…”
James 4:7–8.
