It's Good To Be Needy
“The LORD mocks the mockers but is gracious to the humble”
Proverbs 3:34
It’s good to be needy as God has promised to meet our needs not our wants. The Bible teaches us that God knows what we have need of even before we ask Him for anything. From the very beginning the devil has sought to make us believe that if we just gained more knowledge we wouldn’t need God. The devil is hell bent on convincing us we are more than capable of thinking and doing for ourselves. Don’t believe it for even a second. I read a quote years ago that I have never forgot. It said, “Common sense isn’t as common as people think.” That’s so true. So few have it as most of us trust our own judgment far more than we should.
Proverbs 3:5-6 offer us wise council today, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” We have an invitation from God to be needy and to come to the one who can and will satisfy our deepest need. You most likely believe you know what you have need of today but the truth be told our greatest need has always been forgiveness. Forgiveness makes it possible for us to know God and to enjoy Him. Stay needy and enjoy the grace and goodness of God!
And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
James 4:6
