Wisdom From Above

“This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic”

James 3:15

Every day the world comes up with a new list of important things we are told we need to remember. I read a list of pithy statements on conventional wisdom and picked my own top 17. Below are the ones I liked the most. Read them and see if any speak to you.

1. Be proud of your scars
2. Accept both compliments and criticism. A flower needs both sunshine and rain to bloom
3. Not all storms come to disrupt your life. Some come to clear a path.
4. The past is in your head, the future is in your hands
5. Sometimes you need to stop and take a deep breath. A bad day doesn’t mean a bad life.
6. Good judgment comes from experience and you get experience from bad judgment
7. If you get tired learn to rest not quit.
8. One day you will tell someone how you overcome what you went through and it will become their survival guide
9. Don’t be afraid of being outnumbered. Remember that lions walk alone while sheep flock together.
10. Every struggle in your life has shaped you into the person you are. Be thankful for the hard times as they have served to make you stronger.
11. When life gets hard don’t pray that God would make it easier but that He would make you stronger.
12. Don’t look back you are not going that way.
13. If you realized how little people thought about you, you would not worry what they thought.
14. Everything is going to be OK.
15. A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good just because it’s accepted by a majority.
16. We cannot start over, but we can begin now, and make a new ending
17. Sometimes in life to heal a wound you need to stop scratching it.

You recall the book of Proverbs is made up of pithy statements that pack a powerful punch that God has complied for us in our bible so that we can walk in wisdom in this life. Most of the statements I read above reminded me a spiritual truth I have learned from studying my bible. Try going through the list and see if you can find the corresponding bible verse that supports it because in the end the only wisdom that will stand the test of time is the wisdom that comes from God. The book of Proverbs has 31 chapters, 1 for every day of the month!

“These are the proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel, for gaining wisdom and discipline, for comprehending words of insight, and for receiving instruction in wise living and in righteousness, justice, and equity. To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young, let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel by understanding the proverbs and parables,
the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

Proverbs 1:1-7

I LOVE YOU!
