The Antidote For Hurt

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds”

Psalm 147:3

I read a powerful quote that said, “If you don’t heal what hurt you, you’ll bleed on people that didn’t cut you.” To put it another way, “hurt people hurt people”. All of us have been hurt by others and if we are honest most of us have hurt other people too, intentionally or unintentionally. No one goes through this life unscathed. We all have scars. The good news today for you and me is Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted! I hope you are comforted today knowing as I am the very first time Jesus stood up and taught in the Synagogue the attendant handed Jesus the scroll to read from and Jesus opened it to the writings of Isaiah.

As Jesus unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written in Isaiah 61:1-2, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.” Of all the things Jesus could have read from the Word of God that was the message He chose to convey as He began His public ministry. Jesus came to heal our hurts.

Jesus knows that forgiveness is what we need most to heal, forgiveness to receive as well as to give. Don’t forget, unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” Forgiveness is God’s number one remedy for healing our hurts as forgiveness is what sets us free just as Jesus declared in John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” Remember Jesus came to heal our hurts and to set the captives free knowing all along the captives were you and me! Don’t wait, bring your hurts to Jesus and let Jesus make you whole.

“Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.”

1 Peter 4:8

I LOVE YOU!
