A Dad For All Sesons

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever”

Hebrews 13:8

Heading into another Father’s Day weekend and looking back over the years so much has changed. From diapers to drivers license, from playing house to buying their own, our kids are not only grown, they are having kids of their own. Then and Now come to mind as we celebrate Fathers Day and I see how much has changed, our children are no longer babies as they are having babies of their own. They are no longer young children and I am no longer a young man.

I read a list of comparisons or contrasts titled, “Then and Now” and it caught my attention for the simple fact that back in 1975 I was just entering high school, heading into what I thought was the prime of life. Oh how times have changed between then and now.

As I read that list I laughed as I can relate to some of the changes that have taken place and even though many of the changes that have occurred I find myself being that much more thankful today for Jesus Christ, who Himself is unchanging and in control even when I am not.

I don’t know about you, loved one, but I am very thankful today that there is One who never changes. Our Heavenly Father is not only rock solid, He is our Rock, a fortress from the storm, a strong tower from the enemy, our hiding place and the list goes on. He never sleeps nor slumbers, He is always there for us, His door is always open and there is grace in His presence, help in our time of need. Everything we have need of His hand provides. God never changes. He is the perfect Father and worthy of praise as we consider our Father’s this weekend.

Yes, loved one, it’s good, very good to be reminded that One thing in this world never changes, and that is God Himself. It’s why we find peace and rest in His presence and there as well with Him is the fullness of joy. Oh thank God He never changes!

As you read this short humorous list comparing 1975 to today, know I am praying for you, my friends. I’m praying that you know in the deepest place of your being that amidst all the changes we have no control over in this life, another thing that never changes is God’s love for you! God’s love never changes because God never changes, His love for you never changes and yet His love for you will change you! Oh what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us that we should be called the children of God.
