The Lord’s Prayer
The story was told of a British soldier who was
caught creeping back into his barrack from the
nearby woods. Taken before his commanding
officer he was charged with conspiring with the
enemy. The man pleaded that he had only gone into
the woods to pray by himself. That was his only
defense. “Down on your knees and pray now the
commanding officer yelled, you are going to need it
now”. The soldier thinking death was imminent
began to pray, pouring out his heart to the Lord.
When he finished he stood up and the officer said,
“you can go”. Standing in amazement the officer
said,
“I believe your story. If you hadn’t been drilled
so often you could not have done so well as review.”
Why prayer is critical in the life of the believer and
especially in times like these?
