If you are just joining us in our study of 2 Peter, we are in chapter 2 where Peter is writing to the church that under tremendous persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ under Caesar Nero.
Apostasy is common place in the church as are false teachers are rampant.
Peter has a sense of urgency as his time is near.

Here in chapter 2 Peter continues to describe the characteristics of false teachers and at the same time reveals some very important characteristics regarding those who are vulnerable to false teaching. There is something wrong with the false teacher but there is something wrong with the follower of the false teacher. Here in 2 Peter 2 Peter gives us 5 self indicators we can use to check ourselves to see if we are vulnerable to false teaching.

God’s timing is perfect as this teaching falls on a communion Sunday where we are invited by God to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith the apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 11:23-31
