The Thrill of Victory and The Agony of Defeat

The message of chapter 14 is this: History has a

destination. Nothing happens by chance. It's all by

design.

The Lamb wins.

The Beast falls.

God's people are called to faithful endurance by

following the Lamb.

To understand chapter 14, we must remember what

has just happened in chapter 13. John has just

described two beasts — a beast from the sea and a

beast from the earth — who deceive the world,

demand worship, and force people to receive a

mark in order to buy or sell (Revelation 13:16–17).
