Series: Ezra
Duration: 52 mins 55 secs
Coming back to Jerusalem under an edict of King Cyrus to go and rebuild the temple, first rebuilding the altar so they could make sacrifices to God. We are looking at the events surrounding the return of the jewish nation back to Jerusalem after their captivity in Babylon. At this time the Babylonians had been conquered by the Medes and the Persians and Cyrus, king of Persia is now in power. The book of Ezra is a lesson in restoration. There is always a pathway. Be it an individual or a church.

I am excited about this morning as I truly believe God has something to say today… God has a message for you. As I was praying about this morning I felt like the Lord wanted me to ask you a couple of questions. First, are you living your life in light of eternity? All through scripture we are taught we are all only here for a very short period of time regardless of how many years you enjoy life. The Second question is just as important as the first. Is what I am doing in my life today going matter 100 years from now…

Passage: Ezra 5-6
Series: Ezra
Duration: 54 mins 23 secs
Ezra and Nehemiah were one book in the Hebrew Bible but became two when translated due to their length just as were the books of Samuel and the Kings. The purpose of the book is to tell the story of the return of God’s people into the land He had promised them. Its important because it gives us the account of God’s faithfulness to His people that after they had served their 70 years in Babylon for disobeying the Sabbath regarding allowing the land to rest, they would return from exile to the land of promise.

If you have been with us you know by now that Paul was writing to a group of churches in Galatia who were turning their relationship with Jesus into a bunch of rules and regulations. Instead of trusting in what Jesus has accomplished for us, they were turning back to the law in hopes of earning God’s favor.

After 70 years of captivity in Babylon just as God had prophesied, king Cyrus has allowed the children of Israel to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. After reclaiming their genealogy in chapter 2, here in chapter 3, we’ll see the children of Israel reclaim their theology… The Persians under King Cyrus allowed the deportees to return to their land in hopes they would remain loyal to him as king.

I titled this message today Grace Grace Grace in honor of chapter 3 of the book of Galatians, Not to be confused with chapter 2, Grace, Grace or chapter 1, Grace. Like I told you when we began this study in the book of Galatians. If you are willing and will take the time to read just one chapter a day for 6 days each week, by the time we finish this study your life will be changed. I mean if it the book of Galatians could have such a profound impact on Martin Luther’s life, the Father of the Reformation I’m pretty confident it could have this same effect on you and me too. This just might be the one book that changes your life and sets you free in your walk with Jesus.

Passage: Ezra 1:1-2:0
Series: Ezra
Duration: 53 mins 39 secs
Called The Second Exodus by many the book of Ezra can best be summed up in a single word, Restoration… Restoration, the wonderful work of God, a picture of His love and grace and mercy for the nation of Israel. Once again we see God as the God of the second chance. Ezra is the first of the post exile books. Written after the 70 years of captivity in Babylon.

I love Easter… I love the Gospel accounts of the resurrection. Wouldn’t it have been awesome to live when Jesus walked on the earth and seen with our own eyes these events. Experienced together, but from their own perspective.
