At the time of John’s ministry the Romans have subdued the nation of Israel. The Pharisee’s and the Saducee’s are the ruling religious leaders at this time. The Sadducees did not believe that man would experience resurrection after physical death. They only embraced the Torah, nor did they believe in angels or spirits. The Pharisees believed that God would send the Jews a messiah who would bring peace to the world and rule from Jerusalem. They also believed that all circumstances that affected the lives of Jews were divinely ordained. John came to tell the people to get ready for their Messiah was coming!

Mark wrote for a Roman audience, Luke for the Greeks, John’s gospel is for anyone and everyone.

Passage: Matthew 6
Series: Matthew
Duration: 1 hr 53 mins 8 secs
Read Matthew chapter 6. The message is simple. Jesus says, Don’t be like the people in the world around you and worry about everything. Don’t be like everybody else. Your Heavenly Father knows you need food and clothes. The Word of God teaches us that what brings a family together is our focus on the goal of the Gospel.

Genealogies are the portion of scripture most of us if we are honest, we skip… After all, it’s not like we are in it… Family trees usually mean the most to the people whose tree it is. Take the Smith family for example.

Passage: Matthew
Series: Matthew
Duration: 1 hr 13 mins 22 secs
Written by Matthew (whose name means gift of the Lord) also called Levi, was a tax collector at Ca-pern-a-um Matthew not only begins with genealogy; it begins with a message about Jesus’s Messiahship because that is the message of this book. Matthew starts where the Old Testament book of Malachi left off with the nation of Israel looking for her long promised King, their Messiah.
