"What's Your Leitmotif"

"My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer."

Psalm 45:1

Have you considered lately what the leitmotif of your life is? In other words what is your life's theme? For some its drama, for others its action, some like to go fast while others like to take it slow? For some life seems to always be hard, yet for others it goes relatively smooth. I guess it all comes down to what you are planting day in and day out.

In Psalm 45:1 the writer declares that his heart is overflowing with a good theme, a good leitmotif, but why? What causes the heart to overflow with a good theme one might ask? Have you ever heard the expression, "garbage in garbage out" to express what a person puts into their life is also what comes out of their life as well? If that is true and the Bible declares it is in that whatever a man sows that too he will reap, (Galatians 6:7). The only way then for our hearts to overflow with good things is for our hearts to first be filled with good things. Think of it this way, Jesus in, Jesus out!

Where do we get good things to fill our hearts overflowing with a good theme so we can experience Jesus in and Jesus out? Jesus Himself answered that question when He said in John 7:38, "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." Just like in psalm 45, a good theme comes from good thoughts and good thoughts come from focusing our thoughts on the one who loves us like no other. When we consider the goodness of God, how can our hearts not be overflowing with a good leitmotif.

Do you desire to have a good leitmotif for your day, your week and for your life? If so, focus; focus on the goodness of God daily and count your blessings. Seek the Lord and sing His praises, recite His promises, make known His deeds and declare His Word. It's really that simple. The more we fill our lives with God, the more of God will flow from our lives. Just remember, Jesus in, Jesus out!

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you."
