"The Chosen One"

"Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple."

Psalm 65:4

There is not much in this life that compares to being chosen. Be it on a team in a pick up game of kickball as a child, a school prom in high school, and your hand in marriage as an adult. Beyond affirming our self esteem being chosen says we have worth, that we matter to someone.

Here in Psalm 65 we read how the Psalmist is fully aware of the blessings of being chosen of God, to be picked to come into His presence. He writes that when God causes us to approach Him we don't want to leave and the reason is because its in His presence that we find satisfaction just being there.

I remember when my mom passed away and how within just a few hours of her passing I found myself standing in the living room of her home and feeling a sense of her presence just being surrounded by her things. In talking with my oldest sister I discovered she felt the same way. If you have ever really loved someone then you know that empty feeling you get as you part ways. Their absence from you creates a longing within you. The psalmist here simply acknowledges that truth.

The good news today, loved one, is we have more than an invitation from God to draw close to Him. God compels those whom He chooses to approach Him. Like a fish caught on a line, the love of God reels us in until we are right there by His side. And once we are there, though He sets us free to go, we choose to stay. Love you might say has a hold on us that needs nothing else to secure us to God.

Let God's love get a hold of you today, don't pull away but rather let His love draw you close. Let Psalm 65 speak to you, let it remind you that every thing God touches blooms and produces an abundant harvest. No matter where you find yourself today the good news of the gospel is one day the Messiah will walk the earth again and when He does, those with whom He has chosen will walk with Him too, enjoying seed time and harvest. It will be like a beautiful spring day everyday! Just like His presence, beauty will surround you!

Celebrate Jesus today, celebrate the fact that He is coming again, that our Beloved is coming again, He is coming for us soon! All of creation is joining in the celebration in recognition of the fact just like the song sings, "Oh how He loves us, oh how He loves you, oh how He loves me, oh how He loves you and me!"

"As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love."
