"Someone To Sing About"

"Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy."

Psalm 33:3

It was Warren Wiersbe who wrote regarding worship, " Will I make worship the heart of my life or just a part of life". That's a great question and one that needs to be answered by each of us. From reading Psalm 33 we see that David has a heart for worship and not just from his head but from the depth of his heart too. It has been noted the Psalms are poems for the most part, put to music to be sung and not to be dissected as a dissertation in theology.

When we allow the Psalms to flow into our hearts and mind and we begin to understand the heart of the writer as well as the circumstances that led to the words penned. It is as if we have a window into the soul of both our Creator and the creation responding in psalm. The Psalms are where many a believer has learned to pray and where the greatest inspiration to both our public and private worship is set in order.

The Psalms were the hymnbook of the temple, penned to assist us in expressing with our lips what our hearts long to say to God. "Oh, come let us bow down and worship" today, "let us kneel before the Lord our God our Maker, for He is God and we are the people of His pasture…" That's an invitation to us to come to God as well as a great reminder that He is our God and we belong to Him.

Let me encourage you to make the most of your time with the Lord today, loved one! Take a few moments if you can and get alone with God and worship Him in prayer and regardless of how you might sound, sing to Him a new song today. You might be surprised to learn that the time we spend with the Lord in private rolls over into the open of our public lives helping us to turn our every day work into worship. After all, its Jesus who puts joy in our journey!

As you read Psalm 33 you gather quickly that David loved God and as well, he loved to worship God, and is why God said of David "he is a man after My own heart". We were created for worship, and not just on Sunday. Remember, this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! We don't just have something to sing about, we have someone to sing about!

"Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord"

Ephesians 5:19
