"Never Let Go"

"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."

John 10:28

I never grow tired of the theme song from the movie, "The Guardian" as to me it could be a theme song for anyone who serves in the ministry of Jesus Christ. Reading Psalm 145 at our morning prayer time today I realize even more that if I am going to lay hold of that which Christ Jesus has laid hold of me I need to be the kind of man "who will never look back, will never look down, never let go." As I was praying this morning the Lord brought to mind men and women who have impacted my life by their faithfulness. Their faith is far from fickle. Their lives are refreshing to me as they faithfully serve the Lord not for a week or a month or even a year. My life is blessed and our church is blessed by their decades of service. As I look for common denominators in the rock solid saints I find men and women who "will never look back, will never look down, never let go." Their lives are like the song…

"Never Let Go"
by Bryan Adam's

Can you lay your life down so a stranger can live
Can you take what you need but take less than you give
Could you close everyday without the glory and the fame
Could you hold your head high when no one knows your name
That's how legends are made-at least that's what they say

We say goodbye but never let go
We live, we die-because you can't save every soul
You gotta take every chance to-show that you're the kinda man who will never look back-will never look down
And never let go

Can you lose everything-you ever had planned
Can you sit down again-and play another hand

Could you risk everything-for the chance of being alone
Under pressure find the grace-would you come undone
That's how legends are made-at least that's what they say

We say goodbye-but never let go
We live, we die-because you can't save every soul
You gotta take every chance to-show that you're the kinda man who will never look back-will never look down
And never let go-never let go
You gotta take every chance to-show that you're the kinda man who will never look back-will never look down
And never let go

We say goodbye-but never let go
We live, we die-because you can't save every soul
You gotta take every chance to-show that you're the kinda man who will never look back-will never look down
And never let go-never let go

Never look back-never look down, and never let go (song ends)

Jesus was this kind of man and I want to be this kind of man too. The bible says Jesus set His face like flint to Jerusalem and would not be deterred from fulfilling the ministry that glorified the Father when Jesus laid His life down for you and me. The bible says, "No greater love than anyone than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friends." In a sense you can say Jesus never looked back, He never looked down and He never let go. My hope is that we know this in our own lives, that Jesus died for me and for you so that we could know He'd never let go. No matter what you are going through in life you are not alone, loved one. Jesus made a promise to you and Jesus always keeps His promises. Jesus said He would never let go if we would come to Him and trust Him with our lives. Just as Jesus promised, we are safe in His love as He is safe in the Father's love. That my friends is security!

As I read the words to the song this morning they take on a fresh meaning for me personally. When I read the following lyrics;

"We say goodbye-but never let go… We live, we die-because you can't save every soul… You gotta take every chance to-show that you're the kinda man who will never look back-will never look down… And never let go- never let go… You gotta take every chance to-show that you're the kinda man who will never look back- will never look down… And never let go"…

Reading those words I am encouraged to be in the ministry, to be able to share the love and the hope that is found only on Jesus Christ with a drowning world. I am reminded again today that there is no price too great to pay to get to tell the world of God's amazing love. Yes, we live, we die, loved one, but we never have to let go because we are holding on to the One who promised us that He loved us with an unfailing love and that He would never let go of us. If we fall, we fall into the arms of the One, the only One who the book of Jude reminds us who is capable of catching us! So, hang in there and hold on to Jesus no matter what, remembering always that the reward is worth the sacrifice! We are saved and safe in Jesus love because He never lets go!

"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand."

John 10:29

I LOVE YOU!
