"Joy To The World"

"Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked."

Psalm 82:3-4

Christmas time is for the church more than just a holiday, its an opportunity to shine like His star in the East that first appeared at the birth of our Savior. After all it was Jesus Himself who said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). And a friend reminded me Sunday that it isn't a suggestion Jesus is making.

This Christmas look for opportunities to minister to the poor and the fatherless, to do justice for the afflicted and the needy as they can be found on almost every busy intersection. Don't just deliver food and gifts to the poor and needy, look for ways to free them from the hand of the wicked one. Share the love of Christ who has come to set the captives free. Humanitarian efforts are needed but only the body of Christ has the privilege of shinning the light of Christ's love to a dying world.

Yes, loved one, Jesus is the reason for the season so don't let anything replace sharing His love with the world around us. The needs are great but the Supplier is greater! The storehouse of heaven is full for those who take the message of God's love into the world. Don't miss your chance to experience the miracle of Christmas when Jesus is born into the hearts of those we share Him with. Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving!

Let the Christmas story come alive in you this Christmas, remembering, "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" (Luke 2:11-14).

"Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your tabernacle."

Psalm 43:3
