"Being Prepared For His Presence"

"make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words."

Hebrews 13:21-22

Hopefully by now like me you have or are figuring out that this life is nothing more and nothing less than a dry run, a walk thru, a dress rehearsal for eternity? Like I love reminding those who are in Christ, the best is yet to be! Because of the Fall of man this life and everything in it as we currently know it is slowly dying and in desperate need of redemption. The Good News of the Gospel is, this earth is not our home and with each passing day we experience with a greater sense of awareness like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz speaking to her pet dog Toto, "I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore". Like I said, this isn't heaven and all that we are experiencing is preparing us for something better, something so much more. If you don't remember anything else today remember this, for the follower of Christ, the best is still yet to be!

One of the greatest lessons I learned in my studies in the book of Job is that life is simultaneously pleasure and pain, happy and sad, grief and glory and we don't find them to be mutually exclusive but rather simultaneously inclusive. Everything and everyone in life comes our way by an act of divine providence, some for a season but all for a reason.

Life is full of difficult experiences. If you are not in hot water today, God is preparing you for it tomorrow. Life is a lot like a tea bag. Hot water or difficult times is what brings out the flavor in us. Don't forget, friend, a tea bag is of no use until you put it in hot water. It was Jesus who said in this life we would have trouble but to be of good cheer for He had overcome the world. Our hope is and will always be in Jesus, nothing else, no one else!

Life, however we look at it really is made up of simultaneous experiences. Have you ever been so happy that you cried or hurt yourself and laughed? No matter how good our lives are, there is something God is working on to make us more like Jesus. And conversely, no matter how hard life is at the moment for you, there is reason to rejoice, ample reason to worship and praise the Lord because God is always working as He never sleeps nor slumbers.

Today is a new day, loved one, a day you and I get to choose to focus on Jesus or focus on you and me on me. What will it be, Jesus or me? Will I praise Him or will my problems get the best of me? Remember, God is more interested in what you and I will become than in what we do. Again, for the Christian, the best is still yet to be so then the best part of today is knowing Jesus in whatever state we might find ourselves  in. Here is a thought to keep in mind…

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.

"For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name."
