We Will Remember

"We Will Remember"

"For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the Lord, who has mercy on you."

Isaiah 54:10

There is no greater sacrifice that a man or woman can offer than to give one's life. Jesus said it best in John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." As I sit this Memorial Day reflecting on the freedoms I enjoy in my life I do so with a heart filled with gratitude for the brave men and women of our armed forces who serve us today and especially those who have given their very lives paying the ultimate price for the very freedoms you and I enjoy this day.

Ultimate peace will not happen until our Lord and Savior returns to earth and establishes His kingdom on earth and therefore enjoying peace will at times involve making war. There is a tremendous difference between being a "peace keeper" and a "peace maker". A peace keeper is one who maintains peace and a peace maker is one who brings peace about and like I said, some times making peace and establishing it will involve going to war. Yes, loved one, there are still things worth fighting for and paying the ultimate price, and today I thank God He has an army of warriors who are not afraid to fight against evil in this world, even at the most remote ends of the world for people with whom they have had no previous contact or relationship with but are driven by the mission of establishing democracy, the very first gift God gave to man when He placed the man and the woman in the Garden and then blessed them with the freedom to choose life or death.

Sadly, mankind has been making the wrong choice between life and death for much of our existence and is why I am thankful for another set of soldiers today as well today. Those brave men and women of the mission field of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who too are driven by the mission of peace and freedom that only Jesus Christ can fulfill. Many sacrifce their very lives that the world might know the peace of God. These brave men and women go to the most remote parts of the earth and seek to share the Gospel, that men can know peace by knowing God personally. It’s becoming more and more apparent day by day as the world is discovering that without a personal relationship with God there is no true peace. Our worlds systems, as advanced as they are today prove it out as people are not communicating more today but less, , are we are in general not becoming closer but further apart. The point is, nothing this world offers can replace what knowing the sacrfice that Jesus made on our behalf can do.

Yes, loved one, Jesus words bring comfort to those individuals and families who have had a loved one pay the ultimate price in the battle against evil in the physical realm like the ones our military personnel face every day. This Memorial Day I am reminded of a precious promise of our Lord who Himself declared in Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God." Just as Jesus came to make peace with God on our behalf when He gave His life on Calvary's Cross our military personnel are part of God's sovereign plan to establish peace among men. Not everyone in the world has accepted God's gift of peace made possible in Christ and many still live as an enemies of God, not everyone in the world we live wants to be at peace with their fellow man and that is why war remains.

Thank God today, this Memorial Day, loved one, that we have a military who answers the call both at home and abroad to risk life and limb that we might know peace and most of all thank God for Jesus today who one day and one day soon will come again and establish peace, His peace, when He rules and reigns for a thousand years. The world then will know peace like it has never known before. Until that day, fight the good fight!

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."

2 Corinthians 10:4-6

I LOVE YOU!
